I’m on vacation from the library until January 11, 2016. Typing that is delicious. People often ask me what I do with all of my time off. Truth is, I wonder how people with a regular work schedule survive. My time flies by, and before I blink I’m back in the library. These three weeks will be filled with family, training dogs, baking, reading, writing and organizing.
Favorite baking blog? Sally’s Baking Addiction. I plan on baking up these Funfetti Cookies Supreme in the next couple of days. The cookies are light as air. The frosting is thick and creamy. I don’t even like sugar cookies, but these, something different altogether.
Book I’m currently reading? The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up Which leads right into the organizing. I need more room for dog paraphernalia in the garage.
My niece Everly turned two in November. She is used to photo shoots, but lately has a hard time wearing certain articles of clothing. The bright red scarf? She absolutely hated it, much preferred it on Kinsey. Oddly, she didn’t mind the cap. Can you tell that they’re both miserable in the shot above? Out in the front yard, it was a bit better.
Most important thing I learned in 2015? Be generous. Whether it’s money or time, give everything you can. Unfortunately when I focus on this, I also notice how many people are not generous, which leads right into…
What was hard for me in 2015? Being kind. When I feel tired, or sick, or angry it’s a challenge for me to hold my tongue. I remind myself to slow down, be better, be gentle. Oddly, it’s harder with those I love. I want them to change or focus on making me happy. I take a deep breath, and I remind myself, be kind.
Resolutions? Every year I try to make one or two. For 2015, my goal was to spend no more than $200 a month on clothing. I failed miserably. This year, I would like to improve my backyard. It’s hard with all of the dogs and the drought in California. I’m thinking of adding more rocks. I simply do not know what plants can survive with multiple large dogs, a two year old and not much water.
In the spirit of giving, I will be giving away the items below. All you have to do to enter is subscribe to my blog via email.
